There is a growing trend in the Canadian small businesses community - young entrepreneurs with big goals.
One of the people getting involved in business at a young age is Andrew Wong. Wong, who started an environmentally friendly rice bag recycling business, was just one of many to take advantage of the funding from Ontario's Small Business Centre, the Financial Post reports. Wong hopes that he can make a career out of his business plan by targeting people his own age.
"Most of my customers are young people who are drawn to the idea of reducing waste," Wong said in an interview with the newspaper. "I'm hoping that sales will grow to the point where I can do this full-time."
One of the first steps that young business people can take is contacting the Canadian Youth Business Foundation. The CYBF receives a multitude of applications from young people who have big dreams but simply need a loan to get started.
According to its website, the CYBF is "a national charity dedicated to championing tomorrow’s entrepreneurial nation builders." Entrepreneurs from 18-34 years of age can take advantage of its resources.
