Small businesses in Canada will soon have a new way to get high-speed internet service. Canada's Advanced Research Innovation Network will implement a new program that will give a high-speed broadband network to organizations in order to aid those in the research and development feel. The service, called DAIR, will help small and medium enterprises create new products for consumers all over the country by allowing them to conduct business at a faster pace.

"CANARIEs DAIR Program has the potential to unleash a tsunami of high-tech applications," said Bernard Courtois, President and CEO of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC). "It is a tremendous resource for smaller ICT companies who have limited financial resources but unlimited technical creativity and market insight."

Those in charge of the program hope that it will give companies the chance to compete on a global market with worldwide competitors. With the growing popularity of web-based cloud computing, the web has become an essential tool for small business.

According to one recent survey, Canadian small business executives don't have a good handle of the cloud. A survey of 525 executives conducted by CA Technologies Canada revealed that 62 percent of them were confused by the concept.
