Getting out of town helps Canadians get more accomplished at work
On a daily basis small business owners are dealing with myriad decisions about business supplies, personnel, marketing campaigns and website functionality.
Most business owners find it tough to take time away from the office and when they do, they tend to stay connected via laptop, phone or mobile device.
But with all the stress brought on by the economy, many Canadians are still opting to put their money and time into what they consider a safe long-term investment - a recreational property.
The 2009 Royal LePage Recreational Property Report shows that 64 percent of Canadians see cottage ownership as a sound investment and 55 percent are willing to make sacrifices in order to afford a vacation home.
Many see it as an investment in family time as well.
"The survey showed the dream of owning a get-away property on the water to escape the pressures of city life and to relax with family and friends, is still alive and well across the country," said Phil Soper, president of Royal LePage Real Estate Services.
Quebec buyers in particular are using recreational properties as a way to enhance their quality of life with most people looking for a quiet area to get away.
