Small business in Northumberland, Ontario, will soon get access to new lines of credit, thanks to the efforts of members of the Canadian government.
Northumberland View reports that in a recent announcement, Rick Norlock, MP for Northumberland-Quinte West laid out plans to for small businesses to receive $634,285 in investments. The plan was made by Norlock on behalf of the honourable Gary Goodyear, minister of state for Ontario.
The funding hopes to impact 160 jobs in the area, and brings the total amount invested by the government to $1,134,285 to businesses in Northumberland.
"This investment will help rural communities strengthen and diversify their local economies," said Norlock. "It will also give small- and medium-sized businesses in southern Ontario opportunities to grow and create new jobs. Not only are we supporting small, medium and often family run businesses, we are keeping local people working in their home communities."
Norlock made other headlines recently when he discussed new housing available to residents. In an announcement Norlock joined several other members of parliament in touting new affordable housing in Quinte West.
