At a recent event, the Honourable Rob Moore, minister of state for small business and tourism spoke to a crowd in order to discuss the importance of Canadian competitiveness.

The minister spoke to an audience at Innovation 2010, Canada's R&D Partnership Conference in order to call attention to the ways in which the federal government was trying to help small businesses succeed in their marketplace. Moore touted the more than $200 billion in tax relief that the government has given to both citizens and small business owners since 2006.

“Small businesses are the engines of growth and job creation,” said Minister of State Moore. “The Harper Government is supporting our country’s entrepreneurs in order to keep them competitive and prosperous here at home and around the world. “Acting on commitments made in Canada’s Economic Action Plan, our government is taking the necessary steps to ensure that Canadian businesses remain a powerful force, driving innovation, productivity, job creation and economic growth,”

Moore has been making headlines all week by meeting with small business leaders. He has been highlighting government programs aimed at helping to make companies more profitable.
