Canada dominated a list of the world's most livable cities, factoring stability, culture and environment, education and infrastructure, according to the most recent Global Livability Report by the Economist Intelligence Unit.

Vancouver, British Columbia, topped the list, with other Canadian and Australian cities dominating the rest of the rankings. Melbourne, Australia took the No. 2 spot, followed by Vienna, Austria; Toronto, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta, respectively.

"Vancouver (Canada) remains at the top of the ranking, a position that can only have been cemented by the successful hosting of the 2010 winter Olympics and Paralympics, which provided a boost to the infrastructure and culture and environment categories," the EIU wrote in a summary of the report.

At the very bottom of the list was Harare, Zimbabwe, followed upwards by Dhaka, Bangladesh; Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea; Lagos, Nigeria and Algiers, Algeria.

Interestingly, not a single American city made it into the top ten. The U.S.'s two largest cities, New York and Los Angeles, came in at No. 44 and No. 56, respectively.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business recently reported a high confidence rating among small businesses in British Columbia, notably in the province's largest city, Vancouver.
