Program funds new startups in return for more local jobs
Mike Jaycock has come up with a win-win scenario for both entrepreneurs and the Haliburton County area - his company will give entrepreneurs funding, while their startups provide more jobs for the local area.
Jaycock's Haliburton Creative Business Incubator program can help take the edge off of starting a small business. According to the Globe and Mail, Jaycock's program will provide full funding to new startups. Only a small number of businesses are selected at a time, and new applicants will only be accepted once existing members have been established.
Business incubation programs traditionally have a high success rate. According to the Globe and Mail, some incubation programs have success rates of 90 percent.
"This program is drawing in new business and new people to our region," Jaycock told the Globe and Mail. "We've tried very hard to get our message into southern Ontario, to people outside of Haliburton County
Part of the appeal is to say we're here to give you a unique program and a unique lifestyle."
Canadian entrepreneurs may want to keep the Haliburton Creative Business Incubator program in mind - according to a recent survey conducted by Intuit Canada, one in three Canadian entrepreneurs are considering starting a small business in the next two years.
