Small business leaders from around Calgary recently met with Treasury Board president Stockwell Day and others in order to voice concern over tax-rates.

Twelve leaders from the area got the opportunity to meet with the government officials in order to suggest how they could best help businesses. The current Conservative government will be organizing similar meetings throughout the country in order to gauge public opinion on economic policies.

After the meeting, Day said that his party's efforts were helping the business community.

"This was a very productive round table meeting with some of Calgary's leading citizens and experts," said Day. "The global recovery remains fragile and hearing from these bright minds on how we can keep those jobs coming, tackle the deficit and rein in government spending was very useful."

Day was in the news recently after awarding the Prince George Pulp and Paper Mill funding for two new projects worth an estimated $15.6 million dollars. The projects are part of the government's Green Transformation Program, HQPrinceGeorge.com reports.
