Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper recently made news for small business owners in Canada when he announced a brand new element to the Economic Action Plan.
Harper, who was joined by Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance Ted Menzies, said that his government is listening to business owners and trying to make it easier for them to have success,. during a gathering with small business owners in Winnipeg. He told the crowd that the government would help keep the tax rate low and reduce spending.
"The economic recovery remains fragile and Canadians remain concerned about the economy, jobs and their household budgets," the Prime Minister said. "That is why our government’s number one priority remains the economy and we continue to be focused on creating jobs and supporting families."
Harper made news last month when he highlighted the importance of small business during the country's 30th annual Small Business Week. The Prime Minister said that 98 percent of all businesses in Canada were considered "small businesses" and that they were the backbone of the economy.
