Small business owners trying to cut down on environmental impact
Canadian small businesses have caught on to one of the most popular trends in business environmental awareness.
According to a recent RBC small business survey, more than half of small business owners who have a green plan reported that reducing energy consumption ranked among their highest priorities. In addition, 31 percent of those surveyed said that they would focus their future business plans on environmental standards, while 55 percent said that they would work to reduce their supply of inventory.
RBC officials say when small businesses make the environment a priority, it can do more than just help the planet - it can also help business
"Going green helps companies build goodwill with customers, employees, shareholders and the general public," said Jim Hart, national manager of green client strategy at RBC.
For companies looking for a place to start, RBC has created "Greening your business", as a guide. The tutorial shows how small businesses can get on board with an environmentally friendly strategies and create a green plan.
Businesses all over Canada are catching the "green fever." Winners were recently announced in the Quest for Canada's Smartest and Greenest IT Departments, a contest sponsored by Info-Tech Research Group and IT World Canada.
