While many countries in the world are still struggling due to the global recession that began in 2008, Canada has managed to make significant progress when it comes to getting back on its feet.
According to a recently released numbers by Statistics Canada, the country gained 93,000 jobs in June, bringing the unemployment rate to 7.9 percent - the first time it has been under 8 percent since January 2009. The government agency also revealed that since the beginning of 2009, 403,000 jobs were added. "These gains offset nearly all the employment losses observed during the labour market downturn which began in the fall of 2008," Statistics Canada said.
"Im flabbergasted," said Derek Burleton, an economist at TD Bank, in an interview with the CBC. "It really does speak to the strength of the domestic economy."
There was other good news recently for Canadian small business when it was revealed that the country's GDP grew by 6.1 percent in the first quarter of 2010.
