The owner of a restaurant in Calgary is mad as hell and he isn't going to take it anymore.
Marco Adbi, who owns La Brezza, said that he has become fed up with the fees charged by credit card companies and that it is time for changes to occur. The CBC reports that Adbi endorsed a move by the Competition Bureau to investigate Canada's largest credit card companies for unfair business practices.
"I'm doing all the work and they are getting all the benefit," said Abdi, who has been running his Italian restaurant for 25 years, in an interview with the news source. "Long story to make short. I'm working for them. After 25 years, I have nothing to show."
"When you're talking about credit card companies, you don't have a lot of choice. So there is the appearance or the actual reality of the potential for collusion and price-fixing," said David Allwright, associate dean of the Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University in an interview with the CBC.
Many entrepreneurs have called for the end of fees by credit card companies. The added fee forces businesses to take money out of every purchase to allow people to use the cards.
