Using PayPal can help small businesses

A small business expert recently discussed the benefits of one of the fastest growing online tools - PayPal.

Ivor Tossell recently wrote in the Globe and Mail that the internet payment method offers a way for businesses to market their products on the internet by having customers create a PayPal account. The method is growing in popularity throughout the country and has an estimated 4 million users, processing $2 billion-worth of transactions.

Tossell also writes that customers will be reassured when they see a familiar logo at the bottom of the payment screen.

"Part of PayPal's appeal lies in providing a recognized payment brand to customers wary of giving their credit card information to an unfamiliar store," wrote Tossell for the paper. "Because the credit processing occurs on their site – not the merchant's – the merchant is never in possession of customers' credit card numbers."

PayPal made other headlines recently when it announced a brand new feature on remote controls. The company has teamed up with FourthWall Media and Canoe Ventures in order to install a payment button on clickers.
