Small businesses use labels to raise profile

Small business owners all over Canada are constantly looking for ways to increase their business and for many, promotional labels are often a great way to bring in new customers. The portable and often inexpensive products give publicity to businesses trying to increase brand visibilty.

One option for small business owners is vinyl bumper stickers. The stickers are water-proof, resistant to damage from UV rays and can be put on company owned vehicles to increase the company's visibility. No matter what the cause or message is, motorists tend to pay attention when driving past the stickers.

UPS introduces shipping labels

In addition to promotional labels, businesses who deal with manufacturing must also be keenly aware of the latest technology when it comes to shipping labels.

UPS announced recently that it was introducing new technology in the hopes of making international shipping less complicated for businesses.

"Businesses of all sizes count on UPS to bridge the distance between their suppliers and their customers," said Dan Brutto, president of UPS International. "Technology is the key to helping shippers, particularly exporters and importers, streamline their global supply chains."

Included in the company's new products was UPS Import Control, which allows users to better keep track of import shipments. In addition the shipping company introduced CampusShip. The new product's Import Control allows customers to act as their own post office by giving the the technology to generate and print labels at their own convenience.

Other American companies have also debuted new labeling products. The business service provider Diagraph recently announced that it was introducing LELA, a brand new, inexpensive label applicator for preprinted labels.

Among the product's new features are a wipe-out label applicator, a drive roller-free patent pending feed system, a readable text display and built in diagnostics.

Ward/Kraft has also released new label printing products. The company recently announced the addition of a custom label printer to the company's line of products. The Dircet Thermal Mini Rolls allow users to construct coated and uncoated labels - all while being able to hold it them in their hands.

"Ward/Kraft was approached by a distributor looking for a solution to a unique feeding problem that their customer was experiencing with a handheld printer and the direct thermal roll labels they were using," said Lance Triplett, General Manager of Ward/Craft Labels Division. "This opportunity presented our Research and Development Team with something it could really get excited about."

Worldwide Appeal

All over the world people are getting excited about labels.

Mexico City recently played host to the Label Summit Latin America, where 708 delegates came together in order to learn about the latest news in the label industry. The conference also sought to bring together label providers and potential customers.

"We and our customers had the opportunity to experience a united and mature label industry in Mexico. With a record high numbers of atendees we were kept busy – not only by a conference with quality speakers , but certainly also with our clients visiting our stand in the table-top exhibition area," said Jesper Jorgensen, of Nilpeter printing company.

The label industry continues to make news across the world, with its universal appeal to small businesses. For an inexpensive way to spread their image, entrepreneurs continue to rely on labels as an essential resource for marketing.
