Websites and social media can generate more business
A recent survey conducted by Citibank found that many small businesses that use a website to market their products saw increased business.
The survey polled 552 small business owners in the United States. Of the business owners that owned websites, 74 percent say their site has been an effective way of generating more business. Seventy-two percent of the respondents that didn't currently operate a website indicated that they will be using one to expand their business within the next 12 months.
The popularity of social media marketing among small businesses also seems to be increasing. Thirty percent of the small business owners surveyed plan to market their products through social media outlets, up 58 percent from those who currently use it.
"Our survey reveals a huge opportunity for many businesses to begin using some of the basic online tools, such as email marketing, to drive their sales," said Raj Seshadri, the head of small business banking at Citibank.
A recent article from BtoB Online says that a business' website design should match their other forms of marketing if they want to reduce customer skepticism.
