When it comes to advertising on the internet, Canadian small businesses now have a brand new tool thanks to one of the biggest search engines in the world.

Although it's been available in the United States since April 2009, Google just introduced a Canadian-focused brand of Google for Advertisers. The site will specialize in advertising for the Canadian market, and give small businesses new ways to compete with larger competition by giving them access to advanced advertising techniques such as search engine optimization.

"It covers all of the product offerings that we have in Canada and how they all work together to create a full marketing opportunity,” said Andrew Swartz, spokesperson for Google Canada in an interview with the Financial Post. He went on to say that companies would be able to use programs such as Ad Words in order to better advertise online.

In a recent announcement, the internet search giant recently signed a deal with Verizon, which could help both companies regulate the speeds at which on certain websites could load - creating a potential pay-for-speed scenario.
