New technology might enable small businesses to track the efficacy of their social network campaigns
A report from Search Engine Journal shows that Facebook is one of the most popular internet sites, closely following Google as the most visited website. In light of this report, it makes sense that many small businesses are increasing their use of Facebook as a marketing tool to try to catch consumer dollars among its 400 million active users.
Now, new technology from Omiture marketing services and Facebook gives small business owners the chance to track the efficacy of social network marketing. The tool generates reports on how unique elements of a business are suited for different Facebook platforms - like fan pages and various applications.
"With this [collaboration], Facebook and Omniture will provide the new tools online marketers need to connect with the right customer at the right time in the world of social media," says Josh James, senior vice president and general manager of Omniture Business Unit.
This resource might come in handy for business owners looking to boost their revenue in 2010. According to a study from the Center for Excellence in Service at the University of Maryland, only about half of entrepreneurs who use social media (57 percent) monitor client feedback via the sites.
