Millenials may be behind the radical shift in technology

With the Millenials quickly entering the work force, the use of technology is taking a radical turn. While many enterprises have traditionally used technology to evaluate the effectiveness of business processes, the expectations that Millenials have of technology is different, causing many business owners to take a second look, says a recent article from the Globe and Mail.

"They're bringing social networking into the workplace and showing how that can actually meet the needs of business," Antoine Leblond, senior vice president of office productivity applications at Microsoft, told the Globe. "Trends like that are really what's behind the technical shifts that are going on right now."

With mobile technology becoming more prominent among Millenials, the notion of a traditional work place is being challenged. Though some business owners are skeptical of the level of security that's associated with mobile computing, the Globe encourages them to accept the new technologies.

In a recent survey from Microsoft, many Canadian small business owners indicated that they were planning on investing more in emerging technologies, like mobile computing, in 2010.
