CO2 Solution - a company based in Quebec City that focuses on the effective capture of carbon-dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions - has been awarded $250,000 in repayable funding by the federal government.
A number of key government officials made the announcement Monday, claiming the funding will contribute toward pilot testing of new technology that captures and treats greenhouse gas emissions.
"In funding CO2 Solution, the Government of Canada is supporting the growth of an innovative Quebec enterprise and promoting important research and development in the Québec region that will help address a major environmental challenge," stated Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Josée Verner.
Officials added that the funding is part of Canada Economic Development's Business and Regional Growth program.
Last fall, the Ontario government outlined a clean energy policy for the coming decade that, in all, hope to bring the province's supply of renewable energy to 13 percent of all output by 2018. Many analysts predict the emergence of the nation's clean energy sector will generate new investment in renewable energy while also boosting Canadian small business and employment.
